Giving opportunities

Contribute to the Altgeld and Illini Halls project

An investment in Altgeld and Illini Halls will have direct influence on thousands of students and faculty members. The project will create new spaces for students and faculty to engage in the collaborative learning and innovative research Illinois is known for. It will make both buildings accessible to all students.

The projected cost of the renovations and construction is expected to be $192 million. Funding will come from the state, campus, and the generous support of alumni, friends, and corporate donors. Campus has committed $27 million through the Academic Facilities Maintenance Fund Assessment Oversight Committee, a group comprising students and administrators.

Our initial goal is to raise $10 million in private and corporate donations in support of this project.

Naming opportunities

In addition to donations for the project, opportunities for named spaces are available within Altgeld Hall.

From the chime room lofted above the Alma Mater to the classrooms called home by the departments of Mathematics and Statistics, the renovation of Altgeld Hall will create spaces that support the highest levels of teaching, learning, and research for students and faculty from every corner of campus.

The renovation promises accessibility and technology updates while restoring the historic nature of this iconic campus facility. The proposed updates will preserve the traditional design and structural details of Altgeld Hall while providing state-of-the art learning environments that will encourage student and faculty collaboration within the mathematical, statistical, and data sciences.

Private, corporate, and foundation donors can support the Altgeld Hall renovation by naming key spaces throughout the building. Naming opportunities are available from $25,000 to $1 million for various areas throughout the historic building.
